Finding my Groove Again!

Years ago, when I started blogging, I didn't have social media.  It was only me, blogging, and interacting with other Christian women bloggers.  I loved it.  It felt so good to encourage and be encouraged.

Then slowly but surely I added social media to my blog.  To share it more, to help it grow.  But over time that same social media became a burden.  It became noise!  It became about me, and how many followers I had, etc.

I eventually got frustrated and instead of identifying where things had maybe gone wrong, or maybe what I could do to return to the heart of my blog, I deleted it!  And... I regretted it.

Then I started a new blog.  It frustrated me.  I'd set it up, link all the social media, reach out to my old blogger friends who kindly supported me... and then... I'd delete it all again.

I did that a few times (eyeroll).

My reasons for blogging changed.  I thought I should blog to share what I was learning.  But I didn't have the confidence to share as a bible teacher would.  At the same time I was digging deeper into God's word and growing and fleshing out my biblical knowledge and understanding.  I suppose I didn't have the confidence to write a biblical post without it coming across without the depth and knowledge required.

I still had this desire to blog.  But I lost my way and couldn't figure out my place in it all.  At church the other day the penny finally dropped.  I started blogging in the first place to encourage.  That is my gift.  But with social media I lost that connection.  Isn't it funny how the very online tools we have to connect are the very things that sometimes make connection shallow and rob us of our realness and one on one interaction?  We allow it because its easier.  Things like lockdowns make it easier to do too.

Now that I have come back to what I really enjoyed using my blog for, to encourage other women in their faith walk, and being encouraged in return, I am excited about blogging again.  And I want to do this the way I originally started, free of social media.  So in connecting, the connection is real.  {I'd like to add, these are my issues with social media.  Its very likely that you have not had these same issues I have had and I am glad if that is the case.}  Having said that, I may connect my blog to social media sometime in the future, or, I may not!  😀

1 Thess 5 vs 11:  Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Hebrews 10 vs 24 - 25:  (24) And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, (25) not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

I remember I had a page on my old blog stating what my "goals" were.  I think I should do that again.  Basics are a great place to start.   HERE is a link to my current blog goals.

So, here I am, back to sharing my daily walk in His grace (yes I lost the old name by deleting it) and hopefully encouraging you as I do.  This time, with tea in hand!

God bless
Tracy

  3. Welcome back, Tracy! I think I joined in blogging late in the process, meaning blogging had been around for some time before I even began. I wanted to leave something for my children and grandchildren to know what their mom was thinking about most days. It's why I still blog - for my family and for connection. I'm glad you returned as we all need encouragement these days. May God bless and use the words you write in the lives of your readers!

  4. I'm so glad you reconnected to your reason for writing, Tracy, "I'm using my blog to encourage other women in their faith walk." I pray you find your voice on sharing God's Word. We're not looking for perfection, we're looking for authenticity. Just share what you're learning, and we all learn together. Faith is a journey. ~Lisa, Visiting from Joanne Viola's, #11

  8. Welcome back to this special online community. It can be easy to wonder what difference we may make when we do this blogging thing, but at the outset I sensed the Lord whispering not to look at the numbers or be concerned, just write what He nudged because sometimes what I wrote might be only for one person whom I would never even know or meet.

    1. HI Pam, that is exactly how I felt in the beginning and then lost my way. So glad to be back encouraging and being encouraged. Even if only one person reads something I write, if it was meant by God for that person's eyes, then I have done what I am supposed to do. God bless

  9. Yesssssssssssssss! I have been struggling and talking with God about this...also how many of those relationships blossomed into friendships and how wonderful it was...and is! Congratulations on reevaluating and remembering God's vision for your writing life! He knows what He is doing and is faithful! Seeking His will with you, my friend!

Yes, I don't do social media either.

You're most welcome to join me in a cuppa at Tea With Jennifer,

    1. Hi Jennifer, I will definitely be visiting over there, with a cuppa! I want to focus on encouraging others here, and not on how many places I can post my stuff, because then for me, it becomes about numbers, and reach, instead of encouraging, even if its that one person. That's not to say someone could not be reached via social media, but for my sm distracts... so for now... its all about my blogger friends out here :)
      God bless

  14. Welcome back to blogging! And thanks for stopping by my place! Encouragement is my main reason for blogging, too. I like to share what God has been teaching me, but not as a teacher or authority--more like someone coming alongside and saying, "Hey, look what I found that helped me. Maybe it will help you, too."

  15. Hi Tracy, I am glad you are back at blogging, why not? Just do what God puts on your heart, and keep doing it, even if you feel no one is listening. It is just as much about you listening to the Holy Spirit whispers.

  16. I came here via Lisa's post, Tracy and I'm so glad to read what you've written and welcome you back to blogging. Sadly, there are too many 'must-dos' with regard to social media and can get quite stressful. I've decided to let SM take a back seat too and am getting back to blogging regularly. Look forward to reading more of your writing.
